Experience

Mr. Sweatman has 12 years of successful instruction as a Special Education teacher and coaching. In 2012, he began his teaching career at Ohatchee High School, serving as a Special Education teacher, head wrestling coach, assistant football coach, and head track and field coach for 3 years. In 2015, he accepted a job at Bob Jones High School teaching Special Education. During his 9 years at BJHS, Mr. Sweatman served as the head wrestling coach and won the 7A State Championship in 2018 and a Runner-Up finish in 2019. He also served as an assistant coach for varsity football and varsity softball during his tenure at Bob Jones High School.

 

Mr. Sweatman is entering his 3rd year in Administration at Discovery Middle School in the Fall of 2026, serving as an Assistant Principal and the Athletic Director.

 

Biography

Mr. Sweatman is a native of Trion, Georgia. In college, Mr. Sweatman worked as a student manager for the University of Alabama under Coach Nick Saban from 2008-2011. He is married to Anna Sweatman, who works as a Registered Nurse in Huntsville, Alabama. They have two children, Allie (9) and Mac (5). He enjoys anything sports related, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Athletics programs are devoted to developing character and equipping student athletes to excel both in their sport and in their future. We are committed to the growth and guidance of our students physically, mentally, emotionally, and academically. We seek to provide a foundation to build self-esteem, confidence, and teamwork that will follow them through life.

Please Note: Students are required to have all athletic forms submitted BEFORE tryouts. Forms include the AHSAA Physical Form, AHSAA Participation Agreement Form, Athletic Insurance Form, and a copy of the student's Birth Certificate. Additionally, students must complete the NFHS Sportsmanship online course and submit the certificate of completion. 

 

NFHS Sportsmanship Instructions:                                                            

  • Students will visit  NFHS Sportsmanship  .
  • First, students will need to register for a NFHS account if they have not done so before.
  • Please keep a record of the username and password. DMS does not have access to these.
  • Once logged in, select your state (Alabama) under the Sportsmanship Course and click Order Course. (The course is free.)
  • A box will appear for the student/coach to identify who will be completing the course.
  • Order status appears with an agreement statement. After checking the agreement statement choose Continue.
  • Lastly, at the order receipt box, there will be a Click Here link that will take the student to the course.
  • Begin taking the course.
  • A student can come back and finish at any time.
  • When finished, the student can print the certificate from the screen or save and print later.
